Very few buildings in German cities survived the destructions in the 1940S relatively unscathed but almost each one of them had to adapt both their last floor and rooflines to a simplified version of the prewar state – a destiny that the Park-Hotel shared with other grand hotels in Germany, notably the Cologne Dom-Hotel and the Nassauer Hof in Wiesbaden.
